Stories of Survival is a charity anthology (with all proceeds going to the Melanoma Institute of Australia) inspired by Aiki Flinthart, a wonderful writer and much-loved member of the Aussie Speculative Fiction family who is currently battling cancer.
To help fight Cancer, all you need to do is write a short story with “survival” as the theme!
We are looking for stories from every speculative fiction subgenre (though not too dark or gory, if possible). Speculative Fiction is an umbrella genre encompassing narrative fiction with supernatural or futuristic elements. This includes (but is not limited to) science fiction, fantasy, superhero fiction, science fantasy, horror, utopian and dystopian fiction, supernatural fiction as well as combinations thereof.
Below are the guidelines for your submission. Please take the time to read and understand them before submitting your short story.
Open to Australian and New Zealand authors.
Unpublished stories only.
Word limit: 3,000
Submission deadline: 28th September 2020
Please submit using word, doc/docx or pdf format. UK / Australian English. Also include a header with title of story.
Each accepted author will have the opportunity to dedicate their story to a loved on who has fought or is fighting cancer.
